November Newsletter Article

Here is the article that is in the November newsletter:

Technology in the Art Room

In the Art room this year students have been experiencing art through many various modes of technology. Through demonstration videos and slide shows to introduce projects and help students start a project out on the right foot. Students and myself have been working on taking digital pictures of finished projects and work that is in progress.

Artwork at Home

As conference time approaches, be looking for artwork to be headed home with your student. Be sure to ask your child questions beyond just “what is it.” Asking questions like “how the art was made”, “what was talked about in class”, and “what they are most proud of,“ will give you a more in-depth answer and more of an insight to what has been going on in the art room.

Third Grade Clay

Once again all third graders in the Cedar Rapids Community School District will be participating in “Third Grade Clay.” Each third grader in the entire district works to make one clay piece of art. After all of the art is completed, it will all be displayed at Coe College in January. The third graders really enjoy seeing their art displayed professionally in a gallery setting.
