In conjunction with the fifth-grade teachers and the Social Studies curriculum, the fifth-graders worked in the Art room in groups to build a Native American shelter for a particular tribe.
The students first were asked to complete a drawing of their tribes' particular shelter, using colored pencil.
The next step was for each group to work cooperatively to build one or two of their tribes' shelters. The students came up with the plan for how they were going to build the shelter and what materials they were going to use.
This was a great project to follow the Haunted House project and really helped to reinforce/refine the building skills that they acquired during the Previous project.
